Physics 2 Flashcards
Name a renewable energy source.
Wind, Solar, Tidal and wave
Name a disadvantage of fossil fuels.
It releases greenhouse gases
How is energy collected from the sun?
Infrared rays are collected by solar cells.
How do fossil fuels power plants work?
Gas is produced by burning coal as fuel which evaporates water used to spin a turbine that is connected to a generator which creates electricity.
What is the difference between primary and secondary sources?
A primary source is a naturally forming resource.
A secondary source is created from a natural resource.
How is energy collected from water?
Waves, tidal or hydroelectric energy as water is used to turn the turbine.
Name a non renewable energy source.
Coal, oil and gas.
What is a disadvantage of nuclear power?
Nuclear waste is produced.
How is energy collected from wind?
Wind turns turbines in wind turbines which turns a generator creating electricity.
What is happening to the global energy demand?
It is increasing as the global population increases.
