Physics Flashcards
Where can we find chemical energy?
In food or batteries
Where can we find gravitational potential energy?
Anything above the earth’s surface has GPE
What is kinetic energy?
Anything that is moving has kinetic energy
What is electric energy?
Electricity
What is heat?
It has its uses but can also be wasted energy
How can we reduce wasted energy?
Using insulation or lubrification
Someone is on the 1st floor.
Someone else is on true 7th floor.
Who has the most gravitational potential energy?
The person on the 7th floor has the most GPE
What is the equation for finding kinetic energy?
Ke = 1/2 x m x v2
What is the equation for finding elastic energy?
Ee = 1/2 x k x e2
What is renewable energy + its pros and cons?
Energy that can be renewed.
Pro= good for the environment
Con= Unreliable
What is non-renewable energy + its pros and cons?
Energy that can’t be renewed
Pro= very reliable
Cons= bad for the environment:
- destroys landscapes
- greenhouse gas effect
What are examples of renewable energy?
-wind
-geothermal
- solar
-hydroelectric
What are examples of non-renewable energy?
-fossil fuels
-nuclear fuels
What does specific heat capacity mean?
Energy needed to raise the temperature of a surface of 1kg by 1 C*
What is the equation to find the specific heat capacity?
ΔE= m x c x Δθ
