Physics Flashcards
State two things Scientist do to collect evidence?
Observe and measure.
What Is a geocentric model?
This is when the earth is at the centre and everything goes round the earth.
Which Planet is not in the geocentric model?
Neptune
What is a heliocentric model?
It is where the sun is at the centre of the solar system and the Planets obit around the sun.
Name the model Of the solar system With the Sun at the centre.
Heliocentric model
What observations show that the geocntric model is incorrect?
That mars moved in a certain way- retrograde motion. The development of the telescope made the geocentric model less believable.
When did the Big bang happen?
Scientist think about 14 billion years ago. And after 150 million years the first galaxies started to appear. The solar system was formed approx 5 billion years ago.
Order these events

Describe the Big Bang.
All of space and time has expanded than an atom and has been expanding ever since.
How will a rocket take off?
When the force of the air on the rocket is bigger that the force of the Earth on the rocket, the rocket will take off.
Where have their been missions to?
Satellites have taken pictures of many planets and gone closer to the sun but only the ,moon and mars have been visited.
What are satelittes used for?
For communication, taking picture, monitoring the weather, studying Earth and space.
Explain geostationary orbit.
A satellite stays in the one position, always above the equator. These satelittes can broadcast tv.
Name other types of orbit for satellites
Polar orbit or low earth orbit (1000km) from earth.
State the two factors That you need to consider when doing a risk Assessment?
Probability and consequences
