Physics Flashcards
What is uniform motion
Motion in a single direction with no change in speed or direction
Vectors
Physical quantities that has both magnitude and direction ex displacment, force, velocity, acceleration
Scalar
a physical quantity that is described by its magnitude
ex volume, density, speed, energy, mass and time
What is the Triangle in the vector form and arrow
The triangle is delta
and delta is the change in quantity for example change in velocity
the arrow signifies that it is a vector and has a direction
what is average velocity
when an object has changed its speed or direction i think
what is Instantaneous velocity
is the velocity of an object at one specific point in time.
what is Acceleration
rate of change of velocity, in other words acceleration occurs when there is a change in velocity over time. acceleration is also a vector quantity because it has a direction i think
What is newtons three laws
One) an object at rest will stay at rest or if in motion, will remain in motion at a constant velocity unless acted on by a net external force
Two) Force is equal to mass x acceleration
Three ) Third law states that when two objects interact, they apply forces to one another that are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. It is also known as the law of action and reaction.
what is net external force
the net force is the vector sum of forces acting on a particle or object
what is position
is the distance and direction of an object from a particular reference point.
what is displacement
Displacement is a change in position or in a objects position
