Wet Pipe System

Always full of water

Dry Pipe System
A
Contains compressed inert gas. When suppression is triggered the gas releases opening the water valve.

Preaction system
A
Starts off as a dry pipe. After initial signs of fire, water is released in pipe. Only after sufficient heat at sprinkler head is the water released.

Deluge System
A
Larger pipes and more water. When one head triggers they all trigger.
