Physical Science Flashcards
Radiation
Heat caused by the sun
Convection
Heat caused by a liquid or gas
Conduction
Heat caused by touch or physical contact
Physical Properties
A property that helps describe the object
Physical Changes
Are changes that don’t change the chemical composition but they change the substance such as a liquid, gas, or solid.
Chemical properties
A substance with properties that can only be measured during a chemical change
Chemical changes
When a substance combines with another substance to create a new substance.
Average speed
How far an object moves in a certain amount of time
Velocity
Speed, direction, an objects moving
Friction
A force that occurs when two or more objects rub together to create heat
Newtons law #1
When an object is in motion it wants to stay in motion.
When an object is at rest, it wants to stay at rest.
Newtons law #2
When two forces act on an object the forces are balanced and the object doesn’t move. When the forces are unbalanced the objects move.
F=M x A law
Newtons law #3
Fr every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
