Q

How to measure the thickness of paper?
(no micrometer)

A
  1. Measure the length of 100 sheets using micrometer.
  2. Dividde answer/reading by 100 to obtain the average thickness of one sheet of paper.
  3. Take the readings perpendicular to avoid parrellex error.

Q

How to measure the thickness of paper?
(with micrometer)

A
  1. Check zero micrometer.
  2. Place 5 sheets between arms of micrometer.
  3. Close micrometer.
  4. Take reading from horizontal and vertical scale.
  5. Divide answer/reading by 5 to obtain average thickness.

Q

How to measure the volume of an irregular object?

A
  1. Pour water into measuring cylinder (V1).
  2. Submerge/immerse rock in measuring cylinder.
  3. Take new reading (V2).
    Volume of rock = V2 - V1

Q

How to meaure the volume of a floating irregular object?

A
  1. Pour water into measuring cylinder (V1).
  2. Submerge/immerse rock in measuring cylinder.
  3. Tie rock to a sinking metal so it can sink.
  4. Take new reading (V2).
    Volume of rock = V2 - V1
