Physical Properties Flashcards
Intensive properties
-are independent of the amount of
Melting point
The temperature at which a solid turns to a liquid
Boiling point
The temperature at which a soil turns into a gas
Solubility
Is the maximum quantity of a substance (solute) that can disolve in a given a mount of solvent
Hardness
Of a substance refers to it’s ability to be scratched. Hardness is being measured
Distillation
Distillation uses differences in the boiling points of substances to separate a homogeneous mixture into it’s components
Quantitative physical properties
Are properties that can be measured and assigned a particular value.a variety of quantitative properties are listed below
Qualitative physical properties
Can be observed and describe without detailed measurement usually, qualitative physical properties are obvious and easy to observe. Several qualitative examples are listed below
