what is adaptive physical literacy
adapting activities to allow for the inclusion of participants with cognitive or physical disability as well as illness
explain “building movement”
just because some “blocks” are different it doesn’t mean you cant use them or that they should be excluded, it means you must find alternative ways to use them to produce a similar outcome
why is it important to know your body?
because participants might not know what physical activity feels like. they might think its anxiety or wonder why their heart is pounding.
3 examples of objective of movement
1) running and wheeling- locomotor skill that allows you to travel from A to B
2) jumping- elevation change
3) throwing- propelling an object to another location
what does it mean to be creative? (3)
1) knowledge of movement skills
2) knowledge of games and equipment
3) how can you reach the desired outcome
4 things to consider when adapting an activity for an individual
- knowledge of the participant (allergies, triggers)
- what CAN they do
- what do they ENJOY
- what does SUCCESS look like for that individual
