Inspection
looking at the patient either directly or indirectly through various instruments, like the opthalmo/scope for viewing inside of the eye
Palpation
touching or feeling specific areas of patient’s body to identify firmness, lumps, irregularities, or other physical findings evaluated by touch
Ausculation (little ear)
listening for organ physiology function. Sounds are diagnosed with special electronic devices such as stethoscopes which are instruments used in listening to sounds of the body made by the lungs, blood vessels and heart
Percussion
striking various parts of the body to determine the equality of sounds produced, reflexes of muscles and nerves (knee jerk) or body tenderness
Vital Life Signs (VS)
temperature, pule, respiration, and blood pressure
