PRIMARY SEXUAL CHARACTERISTICS (FEMALE)
- uterus enlargens and vagina lengthens
- Ovaries begin to release eggs
- The menstrual cycle commences
PRIMARY SEXUAL CHARACTERISTICS (MALE)
- enlargement of penis and testes
- spontaneous erections caused by blood flowing into chambers of the penis
- Testicles begin to produce spermatozo (sperm)
SECONDARY SEXUAL CHARACTERISTICS (FEMALE)
- breasts develop the areola ( area around nipple)
- hair growth in armpits and pubic area
- Redistribution of body causing hips to widen

- changes in larynx (adams’ apple) causing voice to deepen
