Q

hypothermia vs hyperthermia

A

Hypothermia occurs when the body loses more heat than it can produce, leading to a dangerously low body temperature. This can be caused by prolonged exposure to cold environments. Symptoms include slow or shallow breathing, confusion, shivering, pale skin, drowsiness, and slurred or mumbled speech. Treatment often involves drinking warm fluids, moving to a warm environment, external rewarming, and drying or rewarming clothes.

On the other hand, hyperthermia is when the body absorbs or generates more heat than it can dissipate, resulting in an abnormally high body temperature. This usually results from overexertion in hot, humid conditions. Symptoms can include thirst, dizziness, nausea, sweating, and dilated blood vessels. Treatment often involves passive cooling, resting in a shaded and cold area, removing clothes, drinking cold fluids, and air conditioning.

Q

Aerobic Activities

A
  • can stimulate your heart to beat faster, and you may experience that your breathing becomes more difficult than usual.
  • moves your large muscles.
  • makes your heart and lungs stronger and able to work better.
  • involves pumping of oxygenated blood by the heart to deliver oxygen to working muscles

Q

levels of intensity in aerobic activity

A

Light-Intensity Activities - common daily activities that do not require much effort.; (MHR) - 220 - age

Moderate-Intensity Activities - make your heart, lungs, and muscles work harder than light
activities do. MHR * 0.50 to MHR * 0.70

Vigorous–Intensity Activities - make your heart, lungs, and muscles work hard. MHR * 0.70 to MHR * 0.85

Q

Muscle-Strengthening Exercise

A
  • uses the major groups of muscle in the body.
  • these activities make muscles work and apply force like lifting objects, using elastic bands, and using own body weight to create resistance like planking, push-ups, and sit-ups.
  • Examples: use of elastic bands, weight machines, lifting weights, etc.
  • 1 activity - 2-3 muscles; pag tumaas - bone strengthening na ata

Q

bone-strengthening activities

A
  • activities that give impact on the ground and
force you to work against gravity.
  • create tension in your bones, developing bone strength and growth
  • activities should be done by children or adolescents because their bones develop faster in this age. - 7-21 yo
