Phusical Feild Trip Flashcards
Where did we go on the trip
Ynyslas
Where did we go
Ynslas Because it had a large dune system as long shire drift carries fine beach material uo the coast
Why did we chose ynyslas
It was accessible - only a short walk from the car park
It was a big area - many people can collect data
It was safe - boardwalks allowed access to the beach
What potential risks were there in ynylas
Strong tides - pupils were told not to go in the water
Hot weather - pupils were told to bring appropriate clothing
Steep relief- pupils were told to bring appropriate shoes
What type of data was it
Primary
What was the method on doing it
. We did a dune transect to measure the height and angle of the embryo
. We used 3 range poles in the ground passed the high tide line
. Our sample technique was every time of the angle of the dune changed
We did the same again with 3 range pole
. We had tape measure to measure the points
Then we had a clinometer to work out the angle of the dune
What is the quadrat (primary )
It was chucked randomly next to a pole to see the vegetation
Ph probe is (primary)
Each point was put into the ground and ph was tested
Ariel’s photographs (secondary)
Used google maps to look at the photography of the dunes
What graph does the sand dune represent
Line graph
How do u represent vegetation n
Compound bar graphs
Conclusion of the dunes
The sand dune increased from point 1 to point 7 the embryo was the smallest at point 2 because it’s destructive and storm waves erode
Why was embryos dune have no vegetation
Because they are on the ground with a ph if alkane
What happens after point 7
After pony seven it decrease over the next 5 points but at point 7 there was a 100 percent vegetation
What data was shown to state that the vegetation has been similar over the years
Secondary data
