Phrases Flashcards
Haga esto.
Pronounced AH-gah ESS-toe.
It means “Do this.” Say it and then point at or demonstrate what you would like the Spanish speaker to do. Rather than learn how to say “Mix this,” “Dig this area,” “Clean this,” “Assemble these,” “Secure this ladder,” and so on, just say this and use physical gestures to clarify.
Así. (Pronounced ah-SEE.)
It means “Like this.” This might make a good follow up to “No” if you see someone doing something the wrong way. It’s also useful if you can see someone is trying to figure out how to do something and is confused, or if you’re training in a new person on the job. You can go alongside them, say “Así,” and show them how it’s done, or show them a diagram, or whatever is appropriate to the situation.
Muéstreme. (Pronounced MWESS-tray-may.)
It means “Show me.” If the Spanish-speaker is trying to explain something that can be shown, this is a useful phrase. It’s also handy if you need to know where something is and you can’t understand their directions. If it’s something that can be demonstrated, drawn, shown on a map, or taken to physically, “Muéstreme” is a must-have phrase (and don’t forget to say “por favor”!).
