Go somewhere to get someone.
CALL FOR
“I’ll call for you at 8 o’clock. Make sure your’re ready.”
Make a telephone call to a place.
CALL IN
Carol called in to say that her plane had been delayed and that she would arrived late.”
Cancel.
CALL OFF
“The meeting was called off because of the strike.”
Shout something.
CALL OUT
“The child’s mother called out his name but he didn’t answer .”
Go to a place to see someone.
CALL ROUND
“The nurse said she would call round this afternoon to check on my mother.”
Phone someone.
CALL UP
“The secretary called up all the area managers to arrange a meeting.”
Become more relaxed and less angry/upset.
CALM DOWN
“He was angry at first, but he eventually calmed down.”
Continue.
CARRY ON
“Charlie carried on walking the dog in spite of the bad weather.”
Do something as specified (plan, order, threat…).
CARRY OUT
“The plan was carried out to perfection.”
Postpone over later.
CARRY OVER
“As regards holidays, can we carry over days from one year to the next?”
