Photsynthesis Flashcards
What does an epidermis cell do?
An epidermis cell is a layer that is one cell thick which prevents water from passing out of the leaf
What does a palisade cell do?
A palisade cell collects light and makes food because it contains chloroplast
What does spongy mesophyll do?
Spongy mesophyll helps bring water to the leaf for the use of making food.
What does a stomata do?
A stomata allows gases such as Carbon dioxide, water vapour and oxygen move in and out of the leaf
What does a cell wall do?
A cell wall gives shape to the plant cell
What does a cell membrane do?
A cell membrane controls what goes in and out of the plant cell.
What are the three things that plants need for photosynthesis?
Carbon dioxide, sunlight, and water
What factors can affect the rate of photosynthesis?
The concentration of light, Carbon dioxide, and temperature to a certain point.
What is photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis is the process in which plants make their own food.
What are the products of photosynthesis?
Glucose and Oxygen
What are the reactants of photosynthesis?
Carbon dioxide, sunlight, and water
What part of the leaf is used for photosynthesis?
Palisade mesophyll and chloroplast
What part of the leaf is used for gas exchange?
Stomata
What is the symbol equation for photosynthesis?
6CO2 + 6H2O —> C6H12O6 + 6O2
Which part of a plant transfers water and minerals into a plant?
Xylem vessels and phloem
