Photosynthesis & Cellular Respiration Flashcards
Write out the chemical equation for photosynthesis:
6CO2+6H2O→C6H12O6+6O2
Write out the chemical reaction for cellular respiration (aerobic):
C6H12O6 + 6O2→6CO2 + 6H2O + ATP
What is the connection between the two processes?
They both need each other in order to process. Photosynthesis creates oxygen which cellular respiration needs and cellular respiration creates carbon dioxide which photosynthesis needs.
What type of organism can do both in their cells?
Plant cells.
What is the purpose of photosynthesis compared to the purpose of cellular respiration?
Photosynthesis captures energy from the sunlight and cellular respiration releases energy to the stored energy for cellular activities.
