Photosynthesis Flashcards
Which gas is needed for photosynthesis?
Carbon Dioxide
What type of energy is needed for photosynthesis to happen?
Light
What is produced as a waste by-product from photosynthesis?
Oxygen
The green pigment used to absorb energy from the sun for photosynthesis is :
Chlorophyll
What is the word equation for photosynthesis?
Carbon Dioxide + Water (+ Light energy) ➡️ Glucose + Oxygen
Photosynthesis takes place, where?
Leaf cells
What is photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis is the chemical change which happens in the leaves of green plants. It is the first step towards making food. During this reaction, carbon dioxide and water are converted into glucose and oxygen. The reaction requires light energy, which is absorbed by a green pigment called chlorophyll. Photosynthesis takes place in leaf cells. These contain chloroplasts, which are tiny objects containing chlorophyll.
What three factors limit the rate of photosynthesis?
- ) Light energy
- ) Carbon dioxide concentration
- ) Temperature
