photosynthesis Flashcards
1
Q
Photosynthesis equation
A
6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2
2
Q
What is photosynthesis
A
The process in which a plant produces ‘food’ for itself
3
Q
What part of the plant cell produces photosynthesis
A
the chloe [chloroplast]
4
Q
How does photosynthesis work
A
For photosynthesis to occur, the plant needs to take carbon dioxide (from the air, which enters via the stomata [on the underside of leaves) and water (mostly taken up from the roots).
The reaction forms oxygen (which leaves the plant via the stomata) and glucose (a type of sugar).
