Photosynthesis Flashcards
What is photosynthesis?
It is the process of plants making food for themselves.
How does photosynthesis work?
Plants absorb water, energy from the sun, carbon dioxide, and minerals from the soil. The chlorophyll in the leaves help to turn these things into oxygen, starch and glucose sugar. The oxygen then gets released into the atmosphere.
Where does photosynthesis occur?
In the plant’s leaves.
What does photosynthesis mean?
It means “to put together with light.”
What does chlorophyll do?
It makes the leaves of the plant green and it helps to create food for the plant.
Where does a plant get its energy?
From the sunlight.
Where do the plants store their food?
In their leaves.
What happens if theres no sunlight?
Then photosynthesis cannot take place.
