Photosynthesis Flashcards
What is the photosynthesis equation?
Water + Carbon dioxide = Oxygen + Glucose.
H2O + CO2 = O2 + C6H12O6
How do you BALANCE the photosynthesis equation?
6H2O + 6CO2 = 6O2 + C6H12O6
Water + Carbon dioxide = oxygen and glucose
What type of reaction is photosynthesis?
Photosynthesis is an endothermic reaction - it takes in energy.
What are the requirements for photosynthesis?
- Chlorophyll
- Water
- Carbon dioxide
- Sunlight
What is the effect of light intensity on photosynthesis?
As light intensity increases, so does the rate of photosynthesis. At a point other factor such as water or temperature will need to be increased.
What is the effect of temperature on photosynthesis?
As temperature increases, so does the rate of photosynthesis. Once the temperature is 45⁰C, the enzymes will denature and the rate will rapidly decrease.
