Rules for Voicing & Devoicing

A

Voiced and Voiceless pairings:
b-p g-k Ž-Š d-t z-s

1) Voiced consonants are pronounced as voiceless at the end of a word before a pause. Ex: gospod (gospot)

2) In consonant clusters, or phrases with no pause between them, the last consonant determines if consonants are voiced or voiceless. Ex: nizka (niska), drag plaŠČ (drak plaŠČ)
