Q

What problems is there with the Big Bang theory?

A

It does not explain how intelligent life was formed
It doesn’t explain where most elements came from
There is no ultimate proof, to say this is true

Q

Darwin noticed that birds on the Galápagos Island varied from island to island. There beaks differ depending on the type of food available!

A

However, it is believed that birds originally had the same beaks but they had to Adapt for Survival in the environment they live in. Theory of Evolution!

Q

What is the Theory of Evolution?

A

Simple cells evolved (developed) into all types of living things ( humans). This evolution appended through Natural Selection!

Q

Natural selection stated that animals were best adapted to survive and reproduce in their environment survived while others less adapted died out!

A

There is some scientific evidence:

Scientist have seen changes in microorganisms

There were fossil and bone findings

Q

In the book of Genesis it describes how…

A

God was in control of creating the universe and everything in it. The bible says the universe was planned & designed. Nothing suggests anything about an explosion or accident!

Q

God made people in his own image, they seem to have been perfectly formed as humans from the start.

A

There is no suggestion that we gradually evolved.

Q

God created the heavens and earth and everything on it, exactly as it says in the bible.

A

On the sixth day God created humans and animals as we are told which suggests we did not evolve from earlier life forms.

Scientific research has found evidence that the earth has existed for thousands of year before human life. This doesn’t fit in with the bible because the earth and humans were created days apart.

Q

God created the heavens and earth, however, the Big Bang and the evolution theory are also true.

A

Many Christians believe that the creation story is true but also not every detail is not an actual fact.

Q

This allows people to believe in both the bible and science.

A

15
Q

The church of England emphasises that science and religion go together.

A

“Good religion needs Good science”.

16
Q

The earth was created by the Big Bang and life evolved by natural selection. The earth was not created by God.

A

Many scientists believe there is no truth in the bible about the creation of the world (it’s just a story).

17
Q

Some animals live in the wild, humans are in control of their actions and behaviour

A

Humans are in charge of animals and we used them in different ways to fulfil our needs and making decisions about the environments they live in.

18
Q

Although animals and humans are very similar we also have differences…

A

Humans have superior intelligence to animals
We have the ability to rationalise in ways that animals do not
Humans have more emotions than animals do

19
Q

Some people think that the way humans treat or use animals is wrong. Some people believe we can treat animals how we want because humans are superior.

A

Others believe we should use animals as necessary but not cause unnecessary suffering. Others believe that we should not use animals for our own use, they should be free to live.

20
Q

Owners of animals are responsible for their needs. The needs are…

A

Suitable environment
Suitable diet
Normal behaviour patterns
To be housed with or apart from other animals
To be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease

21
Q

Most Christians agree that the bible says that God put humans in charge of animals.

A

Other Christians put this indifferent ways. Some believe that people have the right to use and treat animals how they want.
Most believe people have the duty to look after animals.

22
Q

Christians do not believe that animals have ‘rights’ but humans have the duty to care and respect them.

A

God made humans the stewards of his creation/ world.

23
Q

What does stewardship mean?

A

The belief that humans are responsible for the world, and should care for it.

24
Q

Because humans have the responsibility of the world many Christians support animal welfare and believe…

A

Animals should not undergo unnecessary suffering and neglect.

25
Q

Christians believe that humans have rights which animals do not.

A

Humans were made in the image of God
God gave humans a soul
Humans have a personal relationship with God
God put humans in charge of other animals.

26
Q

Most Christians believe the bible values human life more as more important than animal life.

A

It is acceptable to use animals but animals should not suffer or die. Because although we have the right to be uncharge of them we also have the responsibly to care for them.
