How do Descartes and Luther differ?
Luther found his truths in gods word and the bible whereas Descartes found his truths in mathematics and reality
What did human reason establish?
It’s own existence, God’s existence, and God-guaranteed reality of the objective world and it’s rational order
Who presents what twin epistemological base?
Bacon represented the base of empiricism and Descartes represented the base of rationalism
Why was man a noble creature?
Because by his own reason he had grasped nature’ underlying logic and thereby achieved dominion over its forces
What to would man establish for himself? How?
A rational world within which all could flourish with a mind clear of traditional prejudices and superstitions
What three forms did the modern mind take? What were their roots?
Renaissance, Reformation, Scientific Revoltuion
