Philosophy
defined generally as “ a unified being, essentially connected to consciousness, awareness, and agency.”
Self
The philosopher that emphasizes that you have to really know yourself because if not, it could into confusion.
Socrates

According to Socrates’ philosophy, “Men’s goal in life is to obtain happiness, that’s why by fully knowing thyself, a person will be able to achieve happiness.”

This is Plato’s “Parts of a soul” which tackles a person’s biological needs
Appetitive Soul
This refers to the part of the soul in which is responsible for the decision-making and the “drives of our lives.”
Rational Soul
This refers to the part of the soul in which the courageous part is found. As well as the values, ethics, etc.
Spirited Soul
He emphasizes that “we may not be able to give our agreement to everything other people tell us, but we can still agree to those who we are from our own perception.” Also emphasizes that the existence of God must be acknowledged.
St. Augustine
He believed in the dualism or the existence of both mind & body and introduces the Methodological Doubt or the continuous process of questioning
Rene Descartes
He is the father of classical liberation and believes that the self originated from “tabula rasa” or “blank state”
John Locke
He explained that the self is the accumulation of different impressions and does not exceed the physical realm.
David Hume
He explained the “transcendental accumulation” which means establishing the notion of self by synthesizing one’s accumulation of experiences, intuition, & imagination.
Immanuel Kant
Believes that “we are a by-product of our experiences in the past and that are actions are driven by the idea of resisting or avoiding pain.”
Sigmund Freud
This is part of Freud’s aspects of personality in which is driven by the “pleasure principle”
