53.WKST- Food and Energy, Final Digestion and Absorption
- True or false? Bacteria in the esophagus make vitamin K.
False, large intestine
53.WKST- Food and Energy, Final Digestion and Absorption
- True or false? Digestion begins in the stomach.
False, mouth
54.WKST-The Digestive Begins
- What are the structures that line along the duodenum? What is its function?
Villi. Nutrient molecules pass into cells on the surface of a villi and from there into blood vessels. The villi provide a large surface area for absorption.
54.WKST-The Digestive Process Begins
- What are the parts of the teeth and what are their functions?
Inscisors: cut Canines: tear Premolars: grind Molars: crush, grind, chew 52.CFL-Digestion Tooth Label
- Can the duodenum function without the pancreas?
The pancreas produces enzymes that aid in chemical digestion. Without those enzymes, chemical digestion could not be completed. So, the duodenum of the small intestine would be unable to to absorb small nutrient molecules into the bloodstream.
