What causes the moon to appear to move to the east over successive nights?
A
The moon’s revolution around earth is aprox 27.3 days. Since there are 360 degrees in a circle, the moon only moves a few degrees night to night,
counter clockwise, making it appear to move east.

A
The earth’s counter-clockwise rotation. Everything rises in the east and sets in the west.
