What are the four parts to the pharyngeal Apparatus?
Arches, grooves, pouches, membrane(we didnt talk about this one)
What does our head and neck region look like at the week four stage? and what does it have to do with branchial?
We look like a fish embryo, and the greek word for gill is branchial
At week four what is it that causes the pharyngeal arches to start to form?
the migration of neural crest cells to the head and neck region
What germ layers make up the arches?
Mesoderm and ectoderm(because of the migration of the neural crest cells) Thats what I have written in my notes, but on the slides it says arches are mesenchyme encased in external ectoderm and interal endoderm.
What are the four derivatives of the Arches/
Arteries, skeletal, Muscles, Nerves
How many arches are there? and what happens to #5?
There are 6, and 5 degenerates very quickly.
What does Arch 1 split up into?
The maxillary and mandibular jaws
Nerve for arch 1?
trigeminal 5
Nerve for arch 2?
Facial 7
Nerve for arch 3?
Glossopharyngeal 9
Nerve for arch 4 and 6?
Vagus 10
Artery for Arch 1?
maxillary
Artery for arch 2?
Stapedial and corticotymapnic
Artery for arch 3?
Common carotid and intenral caroitd
