4) Mental Health Awareness - 1 hour for renewals after Aug. 31, 2021 and before Sept. 1, 2023
5) Human Trafficking Prevention - 1 hour for renewals after Aug. 31,2021 and before Sept. 1, 2022
If a pharmacist’s license lapses, what action can be taken to reinstate the license?
*Expired for ≤ 90 days: apply for renewal, pay 1.5 times the renewal fee and report the completion of the required CPE hours.
**Expired for 91-364 days: apply for renewal, pay 2 times the renewal fee and report the completion of the required CPE hours.
***Expired ≥ 1 year: apply for new license and retake the MPJE.
What are the requirements to become a nuclear pharmacist?
Complete the specialized training requirements for the preparation and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals and be named on a Texas radioactive material license issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services, Radiation Control Program.
What are the requirements to serve as a pharmacist preceptor?
1) Have at least 1 year of experience as a licensed pharmacist or 6 months of residency training in an ASHP-accredited program
2) Complete 3 hours of pharmacist preceptor training within the previous 2 years for initial certification or 3 hours of pharmacist preceptor training within the pharmacist’s current license renewal period to continue certification.

How many experiential intern hours are required?
TSBP requires the number of intern hours required by ACPE.
Pharmacist-intern student: 300 IPPE hours + 1440 APPE hours
Extended pharmacist-intern: 1740 experiential hours
What type of intern hours are required?
No more than 600 hours of the required 1500 hours may be obtained under a healthcare professional preceptor except when a pharmacist-intern is working in a federal government pharmacy.
What is the ratio of interns for each pharmacist in a community/hospital setting?

Under what conditions can the number of interns per pharmacist increase?
There is no limit on the intern to pharmacist ratio for preceptors supervising intern-trainees and student-interns as a part of a Texas college/school of pharmacy program.
What is the minimum age to become a pharmacy technician?
There is no minimum age requirement; an individual must have a high school or equivalent diploma (GED) or be working to obtain such a diploma to become a pharmacy technician.
***An applicant cannot be working to obtain such a diploma for more than 2 years.
