Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor (ACE Inhibitor)
- uses: HTN, MI, LV dysfunction, nephropathy, prevnetion
- adverse effects: chronic persistent cough, hyperkalemia, renal failure, potentially life-threatening angioedema (edema of tongue, lips or eyes)
Losartan (Cozaar)
Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB)
- uses: HTN, Heart Failure, Diabetic Nephropathy, MI, Prevention of Stroke
- adverse effects: renal failure, potentially life-threatening angioedema (edema of tongue, lips or eyes)
Spironolactone (Aldactone)
Aldosterone Antagonist
-uses: HTN and heart failure
(less selective than Eplerenone)
Major adverse effect: Hyperkalemia

Thiazide Diuretic
Metoprolol (Lopressor)
Beta-1 Blocker (Sympatholytic/Adrenoreceptor Antagonist)
-preferred for patients with asthma or diabetes
Atenolol (Tenormin)
