Science that studies the effects of the drugs on the body

Medication

Drug Interaction
Occurs when administration of two or more drugs affect metabolism of one to all medications
Drug Misuse
The improper use of common medication leading to acute and/or chronic toxicity or dependancy
Drug Abuse
Is an appropriate intake of substance either continually or periodically
Drug Dependance
A person’s reliance on or need to take a drug or substance there are two type of dependance: Physiological or psychological
Drug Habituation
denotes a mild form of psychological depadance .
Illicit Drug
Also Called Street drug are those sold illegally
Dose
The aim to give a patient a the correct amount of a drug without causing a harmful side effect
Therapeutic Index
A measure of the danger of poisoning
The higher it is the safer
Aspirin (3.5), digoxin (2), Lithium (1.5)
Bioavailability
Proportion of a drug which enters circulation when introduced into the body to have an active affect
Tolerance
A decreasing response to repetitive drug doses
