Acetaminophen indications
Fever, pain relief
Acetaminophen contraindications
Liver disease
Acetaminophen dosage (adult)
325-1000 mg PO every 4-6hrs
Acetaminophen dosage (peds)
15 mg/kg PO every 4-6hrs
Adenosine indications
SVT/PSVT
Adenosine contraindications
Bradycardia, drug-induced tachycardia, 2-3rd heart blocks, A-fib/flutter, V-tach
Adenosine dosage (adults)
6mg rapid IV/IO push + 20cc saline - 3 total times every 1-2 min
Adenosine dosage (peds)
0.1 mg/kg (max 6mg) + 5-10cc saline - 2 total times after 1-2 min
Albuterol indications
Asthma, bronchospasms
Albuterol contraindications
Cardiac dysrhythmias
Albuterol dosage (adults + peds)
2.5mg in 3ml of saline
Amiodarone indications
V-fib, unstable V-tach
Amiodarone contraindications
CHF, cardiogenic shock, bradycardia, unpaced 2-3rd degree heart block
Amiodarone dosage (adults)
Pulseless V-tach/V-fib arrest: 300mg, 1x rpt at 150mg
V-tach with pulse: 150mg IV drip over 10 minutes - Max of 2.2g
Amiodarone dosage (peds)
Pulseless V-tach/V-fib arrest: 5 mg/kg IV
V-tach with pulse: 5mg/kg IV drip over 20-60 min - Max of 15mg
Aspirin indications
Mi or angina, mild to moderate pain/fever
Aspirin contraindications
GI bleed, hemorrhagic stroke, asthma, children
Aspirin dosage (adults)
Pain/fever: 325-650mg every 4 hours
MI or angina: 162-324mg
Atropine sulfate indications
Unstable bradycardia, organophosphate or nerve poisoning
Atropine sulfate contraindications
Tachycardia, hypothermia, active MI and hypoxia
Atropine sulfate dosage (adult)
Bradycardia: 1 mg over 3-5 min. Max 3mg
Poisoning: 1-5mg, rpt every 3-5min until cessation of bronchial secretions
Atropine sulfate dosage (peds)
Bradycardia NOT responding to epi: 0.02mg/kg IV - Max of 1mg for child, 3mg for adolescent
Poisoning: 0.05mg/kg, rpt every 20-30 min until cessation of bronchial secretions
Calcium chloride indications
Hyperkalemia/magnesemia, hypocalcemia, calcium channel blocker overdose
Calcium chloride contraindications
Hypercalcemia, V-fib during cardiac resuscitation
