Increasing binding to receptor
What is KD and how do you find it
The dissociation constant
You find it by the 50% binding and see what concentration it gives
What does Kd indicate
The smaller the kd the higher the affinity and the higher the binding
What is efficacy
The ability of a drug receptor complex to produce an effect
What is an Agonist and antagonist
An agonist is a drug that activates the receptor an antagonist creates no respond even though it binds with a receptor
What is a full agonist
An agonist that provides maximum response
What is a partial agonist
Does not give 100 percent response
What is an endogenous ligand
Ligand that is produced by the body
What is an exogenous ligand
A ligand that is produced outside of the body
