Initially as the drug dose increases, more receptors are stimulated generating a greater response. This occurs up until receptors are saturated, at which point there is a maximal response regardless of drug dose

Draw a semilogarithmic dose-response curve

By using the log of dose, the curve becomes sigmoid shaped with a linear trend between 20-80% response.
