phage lambda regulation Flashcards
Name the genes from left to right.
Integrase, exicisionase, CIII, N, CI, CRO, CII, OPQ
What is N?
N is an antiterminator.
What is CRO?
CRO is a protein that binds to operator sites to inhibit Prm and Pr.
What is CI?
CI is a lambda repressor and blocks lysis.
What is CII?
CII is a transcriptional activator that activates PI and Pre.
What is CIII?
CIII is a protein that promotes lysogeny.
What is OP?
OP initiates phage replication.
What is Q?
Q is an antiterminator that allows expression of the lysis head and tail gene.
What is Xis?
Xis is exisionase and promotes lysis.
What is Int?
Int is integrase and promotes lysogeny.
What is PL and what does it control?
PL is the left promoter and controls N and CIII.
What is PR and what does it control?
PR is the right promoter and controls CRO, CII, and OP.
What is Prm and what does it control?
Prm controls CI, promotes lysogeny.
What is Pre and what does it control?
Pre is a promoter that is activated by CII that creates CI.
What is Pi and what does it control?
Pi is the promoter that controls Int to promote lysogeny and cuts through Xis to block lysis.
