Petchem Flashcards
upstream related to what?
exploration, drilling and production of crude oil
Upstream key activities
discovery of oil and gas reservers, drilling exploratory production wells
Midstream related to what
transportation, storage, initial processing of crude oil and natural gas
midstream key activities
construction and operation of pipelines, storage tank and terminan, transportation oh HC from production site to the refineries/distribution
Downstream related to what
refining crude oil into various petroleum product
Downstream key activitie
operation of refineries of crude oil, distribution process through pipelines, retail operation
what is kerogen
the organic material that converted into substance called kerogen
What is diagenesis
The combination of heat and pressure from overlying sediment causes transformation of the organic material
what is catagenesis
The high temperatures break down the kerogen into hydrocarbons, such as crude oil and natural gas. This process is known as catagenesis.
anticline
folded rock structure where the rock layer arch upward
fault
fractures in the Earth’s crust along which movement has occured
