What does it detect?
A
Detects how much certain cells process components such as glucose

How does it work?
A
A radionuclide releases a positron which annihilates with an electron to produce 2 0.51 mV gamma rays. The rays travel in opposite directions and when two are detected at the same time, its called coincidence detection.

A
- Quicker scan time
- Increased diagnostic accuracy
