What is the ideal radioactive decay mode for PET?
A
beta-plus, after which the positron will annihilate with an electron in the tissue resulting in 2x 511keV photons being emitted.
Any additional radioactive decay modes would contribute to the radiation dose without benefiting the diagnosis
