upper part of face (anywhere above lips)
Treatment of basal cell carcinoma?
local excision with negative margins (1mm is enough) - curative because it does NOT metz
Does squamous cell carcinoma metz?
YES - to LN
Where does squamous cell carcinoma usually present?
bottom part of face (anywhere below lips)
Treatment of squamous cell carcinoma?
excision with wider margins (0.5 - 2cm) with LN dissection

radiation treatment
Treatment of melanoma that is <1mm deep?
local excision
Treatment of melanoma that is >1mm deep?
excision with wide margins (2-3cm)
Treatment of melanoma that is 1-4mm?
aggressive therapy (excision with wide margins + LN dissection)
Treatment of melanoma that is larger than 4mm?
none - terrible prognosis
What is unique about metastatic malignant melanoma?
it can metz to unusual places (LV muscle, duodenal wall, etc) and it has no predictable tiemtable
