A

Homeless, close contact with infected person, immigration <5 years (asian, latin american, african) institutionalized, health care workers, immunocompromised, chronic disease.

TB Signs and Symptoms

A

Cough, night sweats, anemia, fever hemoptysis, weight loss, pneumonia, bronchitis, pulmonary fungal infection, tumor

Screening every 12 months for at risk individuals

TB Treatment

A
NYS reportable, refer to TB clinic.
Medications Isoniazid (INH), Rifampin (RIF), Pyrazinamide (PZA), Streptomycin (SM), ethamutol (EMB)

Active disease- multi drug may be needed
HIV- Needs treatment with >3 drugs
Severe disease- 4 drugs for the first 2-3 months.
