Claim
expresses a position on an issue or topic and provides evidential and valid support
Argument
materials that serve to prove the claim

declarations to justify a claim or action or decision or belief
Reason
specific references such as research material, expert testimonial, statistics, etc.
Evidence
opposing position or claim
Counterargument
a claim that includes a recommendation for policy change. This would also have two or three valid reasons or examples for supporting the change
Proposition
a proposition that disproves a claim
Straw an
usually not enough to persuade or convince
Logical
connects with people’s want to belong in a group
Bandwagon
endorsements from well-known individuals or satisfied customers
Testimonial
attaches people to a special or elite group
Snob
focuses on wants or fear or other feelings
Emotional
establishes presenter’s credibility or trustworthiness
Ethical
a way of using specific evidence to come to a generalization or general conclusion
