Repetition
The repeated use of words, phrases, or ideas for emphasis.
Anaphora
The repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses.
Tricolon
A series of three parallel words, phrases, or clauses.
Antithesis
The juxtaposition of contrasting ideas in balanced phrases.
HYPERBOLE
An exaggeration used for emphasis or effect.
METAPHOR
A figure of speech that compares two unlike things without using “like” or “as”.
Analogy
A comparison between two things, typically for the purpose of explanation or clarification.
Inclusive language:
Words like “we” and “our” to create a sense of unity with the audience.
Expert opinion
Citing authorities or experts to lend credibility to an argument.
Call to action
A direct appeal to the audience to take a specific action.
Loaded language:
Words with strong positive or negative connotations to influence the audience.
Bandwagon:
Appealing to the desire to follow the crowd or be on the winning side.
Alliteration
The repetition of initial consonant sounds in nearby words
Assonance
