Inclusive Language
Words or phrases that include the audience.
Low Modality
Uncertain language.
Repetition
To repeat a word or phrase.
Rhetorical Question
A question that is asked without expecting an answer.
Short Sentence Structure
A short sentence.
Single Sentence Paragraph
A paragraph that is only one sentence.
Connotation
The ideas, feelings or concepts associated with specific words, phrases.
Hyperbole
Exaggerated statements or claims, not to be taken literally.
Hypophora
A question that is asked and immediately answered.
Pun
Play on words.
Tone
The way the author expresses their attitude through their writing. Not what they are saying, but how they are saying it.
Tricolon
Groups of three clauses, phrases or words in quick succession.
Accumulation
This means to mass, pile or heap. It’s the gathering of scattered points listed together.
Cumulative Sentence
A sentence where the main information is given at the start, followed immediately by further details and specifics which can clarify things for the audience.

Two things that are strikingly different from each other.
Nominalisation
The use of nouns over verbs.
Register
The degree of formality in language.
