What are transitions?
Words or phrases that let the audience know when a speaker completed a though and is moving on to the next one.
(States both the idea you are leaving and the idea you are coming up to.)
What are some transition examples?
Now that we have a clear understanding of…., let me share…… with you.
Keeping these points in mind about…., lets return to the…I started with….
What’s a transition preview?
A statement that lets the audience know what the speaker is going to talk about next.
It goes more into detail than a regular transition, and helps listeners keep track of your ideas
What’s a transition summary?
(Opposite of a transition preview)
A statement that summarizes what the speaker just said, and reminds the listeners of what they just heard.
Used when a speaker finishes an important main point.
