What is an Anecdote?
A short amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person used in advertising.
What is Emotive Launguage?
The term used when certain word choices are made to evoke an emotional response in the reader.
What is an Expert Opinion?
Convincing the audience that the writer’s contention must be true because notable people agree with them.
What is Generalisation?
A statement or concept obtained from specific cases.
What is Inclusive language?
The use of words like “we”, “us”, “our”, and “you” to make the reader feel like they are part of the same side as the writer
What is a Metaphor? (Persuasive)
A type of analogy: a comparison between two things or ideas by saying on thing is another.
What is Repetition?
Repeating certain words to hammer the idea into the audience’s head.
What is a Rhetorical Question?
A question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point, rather than to get an answer.
What is a Simile?
A rhetorical device used to compare two things by using words like ‘as’ or ‘like’.
What is Form and the 4 main types of it?
Form is the type of advertisement and the 4 main types are; TV, Print, Online and Radio.
What is Purpose?
Purpose is the reason why the ad was created.
What is Primary Audience?
A primary audience is the main group of people you are trying to reach with an advertisement.
What is Secondary Audience?
A secondary audience is a group of people who may not directly respond to the audience but may still be interested in it.

Ethos is linked to the character, ethics and morals.
What is Pathos?
Pathos is linked to the emotions and using emotive language to win over the reader emotionally
What is Logos
Logos is linked to logic and using data and statistics to prove your side of the argument.
Segmentation
Dividing a target audience into smaller groups based on shared characteristics, behaviours, or preferences.
Demographic Segmentation
Grouping customers into segments based on shared characteristics, such as age, gender, income, education, and more.
Physiographic Segmentation
A market research method used to divide a market or customer group into segments based on their beliefs, values, lifestyle, social status, activities, interests and opinions and other psychological criteria.
