Messages that create strong feelings to make a point.
Emotional appeal
Broad statement about a class or category of people ideas or things.
Generalization
False or misleading statements
Faulty reasoning
Suggest a person should believe/do because everyone is.
Bandwagon
Language consisting of words with strongly positive or negative connotations.
Loaded language
A statement to prove that someone is wrong
Refute
To prove something is false by using arguments or evidence to disprove opposing arguments
Rebuttal
A structured argument that requires preparation with two opposing teams
Debate
An opinion piece that usually appears in the newspaper or news broadcast; express opinions
