pavlov, neutral stimulus (bell) turns into conditioned stimulus which creates the conditioned response (salivation)
operant conditioning
voluntary behaviors, repeat behaviors that are rewarded, don’t repeat behaviors that don’t get a reward

theorizes that relatively stable individual differences drive behavior
