Perspective Flashcards
Perspective
Method for creating illusion of depth on two-dimensional surface. some of the techniques used for creating perspective in a drawing or painting are. . . etc
- Overlapping
When one object covers a part of a second object, the first seems to be closer to the viewer.
- Size
Larger objects seem to be closer to the viewer than small objects.
- Placement
Objects that are placed either low or high on the picture plane seem to be closer to the viewer than objects placed closer to eye level.
- Atmospheric perspective
Objects with clear, sharp edges and visible details seem to be close to you. Objects that lack detail and have hazy outlines seem to be further away.
Color
Brightly colored objects seem to be closer to you, and objects with dull, light colors seem to be further away.
- Linear Perspective
Technique of using lines in drawing and painting to create the illusion of depth on a flat surface. Linear perspective may include 1, 2 or 3 point perspective.
Converging lines
As parallel lines move away from you, they seem to move closer together. This is called LINEAR PERSPECTIVE
Parallel lines
Move in the same direction and always stay the same distance apart.
Vanishing point
The point on the horizon where receding parallel lines seem to meet
Eye Level
An imaginary horizontal line parallel to the viewer’s eye and drawn through the vanishing point or connecting the two vanishing points.
Lines
There are five main kind of lines- Vertical, Horizontal, Diagonal, curved and zigzag
Vertical lines
lines that are perpendicular to the bottom of the page or to the horizon.
Horizontal lines
Lines that are parallel to the horizon, they do not slant.
Diagonal Lines
Lines that look as if they are rising or falling and are somewhere between vertical and horizontal
