combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual’s distinctive character
What is a personality disorder?
enduring, persistent, and pervasive disorders or inner experience or behaviour that cause distress or significant impairment in social functioning
Presentation of personality disorder
problems in social relationships, regulation of mood
patterns of perception, thought and response are fixed and inflexible though behaviour is often unpredictable
abnormal behaviour persistent
widespread behaviour pattern, maladaptive to personal and social situations
always appears during childhood/adolescence and continues into adulthood
