Distrust of others, guarded + suspicious
Strong sense of self importance, easily feels shame + humiliation
Difficulty engaging in close relationships
Schizoid personality disorder
Directs attention towards inner life and away from outside world
Detached, aloof and prone to introspection
No desire for relationships, indifferent to others
Antisocial personality disorder
Callous unconcern for others
Disregards social rules, irritable and aggressive
Acts impulsively, feels no guilt
No difficulty finding relationships but usually fiery, turbulent + shortlived
MacDonalds triad in childhood (pyromania, cruelty to animals + enuresis)
Prone to substance misuse + crime
EUPD
Lacks a sense of self, experiences feelings of emptiness + fears abandonment
Unstable relationships, emotional instability - mood swings
Suicidal threats are common
Usually results from child abuse
Histrionic personality disorder
Lack a sense of self worth, depend on approval of others
May dramatise to attract attention
Take great care of appearance, crave excitement and act impulsively
Very sensitive to criticism
Narcissistic personality disorder
Grandiose sense of self importance, need to be admired
Lacks empathy, exploits others
Self-absorbed, controlling, selfish, insensitive
Can have narcissistic rage
Anankastic personality disorder
Preoccupation with rules, details, lists, order, organisation
Doubting and cautious, controlling
Anxious avoidant personality disorder
Believes they are socially enept, unappealing, inferior - fears being rejected
Prevents engagement in social situations
Dependant personality disorder
Lack of self confidence, need to be taken care of
Need help with every day decisions, fears abandonment, goes to great lengths to maintain relationships
Naive and child-like attitude
